Day 1
July 17 Thursday: 
Depart early morning and journey thru Illinois and Missouri to Joplin at the Drury Inn and Suites for our first night out.  We will be serving a lite breakfast on the bus of rolls, juice and water.  B

Day 2:
July 18 Friday:
Leaving Missouri behind us and traveling to Oklahoma City and the Cowboy Museum for a short visit and lunch.  Our destination tonight is Elk City, OK and the Hampton Inn. BL

Day 3:
July 19: Saturday:
The southwest will start to unfold before our eyes as we head into New Mexico.  The changing scenery will very diversified.  A stop at the “Big Texan”, the home of the 72 oz Steak!! Will be our morning break.  Look in the gift shop or have a lite snack…they have it all.  We will be staying in Gallup, NM at the Comfort Suites. B

Day 4:
July 20: Sunday:
A few miles past Gallup this morning, we are going to spend some time and stop at R.B Burnham Trading Post to see and admire the craftsmanship of the jewelry and other crafts of Native Americans.  As we travel west, we will stop at the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert for a visit.  We don’t have long before we will be getting close to the Grand Canyon and our home away from home for the next two nights.  We will be staying at the Best Western Grand Canyon in the Village of Tusayan about a mile from the canyon.  This after noon we will watch the IMAX movie about the Grand Canyon and then to one of the lodges for dinner.  The rest of the evening will be yours to explore or just relax.  BD

Day 5:
July 21: Monday:
Following breakfast this morning, we will take a morning tour with a guide, around the canyon and points beyond.  A relaxing lunch at one of the Grand Canyon restaurants and then the afternoon is yours to enjoy. BL

Day 6&7:
July 22: Tuesday & Wednesday:
We will leave the Grand Canyon this morning and head for another type of excitement!!  Las Vegas..here we come!!  We will be staying downtown on Fremont Street at the 4 Queens Hotel.  Every night the Fremont Experience will dazzle and delight you with the 4 block long show that takes place over head and contain over a million lights.  You will be free to enjoy Las Vegas at your own pace and take in the sites that interest you.  2B

Day 8:
July 24: Thursday:
This morning’s journey takes us through St. George, UT before reaching spectacular Zion Park, called the West’s Garden of Eden, to see the massive rock formations.  Zion boasts some of the highest and most beautiful sandstone cliffs in the world.  We will have lunch at the Zion Lodge before heading out on the Park’s Tour Bus for a guided tour of the park.  We will return to the town of Springdale and the Best Western Zion Park Lodge for the night. The lodge is located on the trolley system if you want to get out and explore after our dinner together.  BLD

Day 9:
July 25 Friday:
Traveling from Zion to Bryce Canyon today will show the different kinds of rock sculptures and how they were formed.  Zion was formed by the Virgin River as it carved its way through the layers of granite, forming valley floors in sharp contrast to the dramatic towering walls above.  Bryce Canyon was formed by wind and weather erosion that has created delicate towers and deep ravines in fantastic colors.  But to get from one park to the other, we must travel thru a mile long tunnel with our own personal escort.   Lunch will be at the Bryce Lodge before heading out on the Park’s Tour Bus with our own personal guide.  Dinner and Lodging will be in the Best Western Ruby’s Lodge.    The hotel has many shops located close to browse in.  BLD

Day 10:
July 26: Saturday:
A morning of driving thru the Bryce Canyon and the Canyonland National Park will bring us to Moab, UT and the entrance to the Arches National Park.  The wind and rain carved over 100 arches in this park.  We will check in to the Best Western Greenwell hotel to freshen up before going to the Night Time Tour of the Canyon lands by boat.     BD

Day 11:
July 27: Sunday:
We will spend a second day in Moab and take a tour of the Arches and Canyon land National Parks with a step on guide.   Lunch will be included during our tour.  The afternoon will be yours to enjoy the town of Moab. BL

Day 12:
July 28: Monday:
Leaving Moab and heading back towards Colorado and the Rocky Mountain National Park.   We will be driving in the Rockies for most of the day until we reach Denver.  Once the road straightens out again we will make good time to our hotel in Sterling, CO at the Best Western Sundowner.  B       

Day 13:
July 29: Tuesday:
We will now head north as we travel through Nebraska to Kearney, NE and a visit to the Great Platte River Road Arch.  It tells the story of the Oregon Trail, the Mormons journey to Salt Lake and the history of the Lincoln Highway, now known as I-80.  After our tour of the Arch, we will be treated to Dickies BBQ Buffet before heading on to our hotel for the night in Omaha, NE.  Our hotel will be the Doubletree InnBL

Day 14:
July 30:Wednesday:
Our journey has taken us through some of our countries most beautiful creations but now it’s time for us to return to Illinois.  But our memories of the “old West” will come alive..everytime we think about our tour to the National Parks of the Southwest! One last stop at the Iowa Machine Shed for lunch!!!   BL
