Day 1
Thursday, October 7
We will depart Illinois today and travel through Indiana before reaching Ohio. We will be stopping for lunch in Indiana and arriving in Berlin, OHIO about 4pm. We will be staying at the Berlin Hotel and Suites for the next 3 nights. BL

Day 2
Friday, October 8
We will start our day with breakfast in the hotel before enjoying a back country roads tour with our local step on guide. She will take us to the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center to learn more about the local history and culture of the Amish. A visit to the Yoder Farm for a tour, a buggy ride and a tour of the one room school house will be followed by sampling of homemade pickles!! And Cookies for everyone! Lunch will be a fondue party and salad bar at the Chalet in the Valley Swiss Restaurant followed by a trip to the Guggisberg Cheese Shop for the best locally made cheese, home of the Original Baby Swiss! A little free time for shopping and trip back to the hotel for a break before departing to Broad Run Cheese and Swiss Heritage Winery for a special Sangria Demo where you will learn how to make it, sample it and the recipes. A private tour of the Warther Carvings, Gardens and Knife Factory followed by a candlelight dinner in the Ivory Room is your evening entertainment. View the priceless steam engine carvings, stroll through the Swiss Gardens to Mrs. Warthers button house filled with over 70,000 buttons arranged in artwork. After dinner, visit the Knife Shop where the Warther family creates the finest kitchen cutlery. Return to the hotel for a good nights rest. BLD

Day 3
Saturday, October 9
Following breakfast in our hotel we will be joined by our step on guide again today to visit the Hershberger Truck Patch and Amish Bakery, which will include pasties for all!!! This will be a great place to enjoy the fall produce and fall decorations! The Ridge Ranch Exotic Animal Farm houses animals from over six different continents and we are going to take a wagon ride to get a close and personal tour along with feeding them. The Lehman’s General Store and Old Fashioned Hardware is a step back in time. We will be shown how they make their products with demo’s and prizes. Lunch is on your own at the Amish Door Village, where you can find great fresh salad bar, soups or a full menu. This afternoon we will visit the Hillcrest Orchard and Coblentz Chocolates before returning to the hotel to freshen up. Our dinner tonight will be in an Amish home featuring a family style feast!! The menu will consist of pan fried chicken, tender roast beef, real mashed potatoes, noodles, green beans, salad, homemade bread and Amish peanut butter whip and mouth watering pies!!!! Plus they are going to give each one of us a loaf of homemade bread to take home!!!! BD

Day 4
Sunday, October 10
WOW!! What a way to spend a vacation!! Good food, good friends, good time!!! It doesn’t get much better. We also got to learn about the lives of the hard working Amish folks of Ohio. The beautiful countryside and information provided by our step on guide taught us so much.
