Day 3
Tuesday, April 24
We have a full day in store for us as we visit the Wright Brothers Memorial, the beginning of flight!!! Visit the monument and museum to see where the famous first flight occurred! Next will be the waterfront village of Manteo, on the eastern side of Roanoke Island, part of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Enjoy some free time of exploring the quaint boutiques and lunch on your own at Poor Richards Deli. In those early days, every store lining the waterfront had two doors - one for those coming by boat, and the other for those coming from the courthouse or one of the inns on Water Street. On to Festival Park to visit the settlement, view a film “The Legend of Two Path” about the arrival of the first colonists from the Indians perspective, then enjoy a tour of the Elizabeth II replica sailing ship with costumed guides that stay in period character. Dinner tonight will be at Sugarcreek Restaurant before retiring to our hotel for the night.  BD

Day 4
Wednesday, April 25
Off to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore!!! Stopping by Bodie Island Lighthouse for pictures before arriving at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the most photographed and the tallest brick lighthouse in North American. There will be time to climb to the top if you wish!!! (weather permitting). We will learn more about the “Move of the Century” and see where the lighthouse used to be and why it had to be moved. Let’s load the coach on the ferry at Hatteras Ferry and take a 40 minutes ride to the Pearl of the Outer Banks, Ocracoke Island!!! Once the former lair of the infamous pirate, Black Beard, this beautiful island boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the US!! We will enjoy lunch at Howards Pub, an island icon featuring over 200 different kinds of beer, local seafood and fabulous burgers!!! Enjoy some free time to enjoy the waterfront village of Ocracoke with unique, boutiques, art galleries and much more. We will stop by the beach on our way back to the ferry to look for sea treasures!!! Dinner will be on your own tonight at one of the locally close restaurants with a treat of ice cream at the American Pie Pizza and Ice Cream parlor.   BL

After dinner we will stop by an outlet mall to let you walk the kinks out before retiring for the night.   B

Day 7
Saturday, April 28
Time to explore Charlotte!! First let’s start with NASCAR, the home of the new NASCAR Hall of Fame and Lowes Super Speedway!! A tour of the track will give you incite on how big and fast this sport really is and then on the Hall of Fame for a close look at the legends of the sport. We will be treated to a great IMAX movie on this exciting sport. But a trip to a “race shop” is a must to see how these amazing race cars are built and how many people it takes to form a “race team”. Hendricks Motor Sports is one of the most successful and famous race teams featuring the driving skills of Jeff Gordon, 5 times champion Jimmy Johnson, Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. If you’re a race fan or not, everyone enjoys this tour. And of course there is the gift shop for your racing needs!!! Now, let’s switch the pace and slow down a bit….and visit the Billy Graham Library just outside of Charlotte. Upon entering the library, which is shaped like a barn, visitors pass through a cross entryway and immediately find themselves in a building containing original and replica items common to a dairy farm, which is appropriate as Billy Graham's family raised dairy cows. You will be delighted when you meet lifelike Bessie, a cow who speaks to us as you prepare to tour the twelve rooms making up the library. Each room had a theme underscoring something about Billy Graham and his ministry as you travel through history and Billy Graham’s life work. After our tour is finished at the Graham Library, we will depart for Ashville which is only a couple hour drive down the road where we will spend the night at the Hampton Inn.   BL

Day 8
Sunday, April 29
Morning at the Biltmore Estates!! Let see how the other half lived in the amazing home that is the largest privately-owned home in the United States, at 175,000 square feet and featuring 250 rooms. We will also enjoy lunch at Deerpark restaurant on the grounds before departing. We will drive to Corbin, KY and stay at the Hampton Inn for our last night out. Dinner tonight will be a special treat as we eat in the Original Kentucky Fried Chicken…this is where it all started!!!!   BLD

Day 9
Monday, April 30
It’s our last day before arriving home but we will still get to enjoy the sites of KY, IN and IL as we make our way back home. We are going to have a late lunch at the Beef House near the IL and IN line. They have a wonderful daily special along with a great salad bar. Our trip has come to an end but the memories never will!!!   BL
