Saturday:  Home to Sioux Falls, SD
Day 1: June 11: Jump aboard as we begin our trip to South Dakota’s Black Hills. We will travel on our deluxe motorcoach across Illinois and Iowa, staying in Sioux Falls at the Best Western Empire hotel that is located right next to the mall, for our first night lodging. CB

Sunday:  Sioux Falls to Badlands to Rapid City
Day 2: June 12:  Breakfast will be in our hotel as we head west with a our first stop in Mitchell, SD to tour the world’s only “Corn Palace”, an immense corn and grain covered structure, enjoyed by the hungry birds and squirrels.  This is truly an unusual and unique building.  As we travel further west we encounter the Badlands National Park, named by the fur traders because of its rough terrain. Badlands National Park, located in southwest South Dakota, preserves 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spheres blended with the largest protected mixed grass prairie in the US. Picture stops and the Visitors Center will offer you many different looks at this amazing park.     On to our hotel for the night in Rapid City, SD  BLD
Monday:  Rapid City, Mt Rushmore Tour
Day 3: June 13:  We will check in at Fort Hays “Dance with the Wolves” Film set for our “All you can Eat Cowboy” breakfast of pancakes, biscuits and gravy and sausage will be waiting at the chuck wagon before boarding our coach. Sit back and relax as our guide narrates the tour of Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Memorial.  We will travel the Peter Norbeck National Scenic Byway as it takes us over Iron Mountain through scenic tunnels and pigtail bridges.  Be sure to bring plenty of film for this Kodak moment!!  Lunch will be at the presidential summer white house to former Calvin Coolidge.   Following a full day of touring we will return to the Fort Hays Dances with the Wolves Film Set for our Chuck wagon Supper and Cowboy Musical Show.   When the Supper Bell rings the Cowboys and Cowgirls will serve up Chuck wagon Potatoes, sliced Roast Beef simmered in mild BBQ Sauce, western Baked Beans, Biscuits & Honey, Applesauce, Old Fashion Spice cake and drinks!!   The Fort Hays Wranglers will take the stage to entertain you with the Black Hills most popular western music variety show!  Over an hour of comedy and toe tappin` music.   BD
Tuesday:  Rapid City
Day 4: June 14:  Following Breakfast in our hotel we will take a trip to the Mt Rushmore Black Hills Gold Factory, which will be educational along with entertaining.  We will take a fascinating tour through their jewelry factory to watch up close and learn the details of how gold jewelry is made.  Following Lunch we will do a drive-thru of Bear Country, a Wildlife Park featuring a variety of North American wildlife.  A step on guide will explain the different animal and their habits.  You will see bears and buffalo running loose and sometimes even stand in front of the bus so we can’t move until we take their picture!!!    Later afternoon we will arrive in Deadwood, the town that stills lives in the past.  We are staying on Main Street for the next two nights.  The streets are lined with old time stores and eating places and there are even casino’s to try your luck.  You will be free to gamble, sightsee or just relax for the rest of the day.  BLD

Wednesday:  Deadwood
Day 5: June 15:   Enjoy a relaxing day time this morning to explore Deadwood and all the interesting shops until about noon when you will be treated to a tour of Deadwood and its beautiful old buildings.  Then we will visit the final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. We are also going to stop at the Tatanka Interpretive Center.  At one time 30 million bison roamed the Great Plains, the Tatanka Interpretive Center depicts the history of the bison in North America, Kevin Costner’s tribute to the American West, is a centerpiece of 17 larger than life bronze statues.  The rest of the day is yours to enjoy. BD
Thursday:  Deadwood to Sioux Falls  
Day 6: June 16:  We begin our travels back to Illinois but the fun hasn’t stopped yet!!!  Our lunch stop today is going to be at the most amazing site that is a man made 76,000 square foot American Experience including the Backyard with its Branding Iron Arcade, animated T-Rex, panning & mining experience for fossils and gemstones, Train Station Water Show & fun picture-taking props in a picnic area. Gourmet coffee shop! Pizza Parlor! Ice Cream Shop! And a restaurant that makes home made donuts.. and it’s all at the Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD .  The afternoon will be spent driving across the plains of South Dakota to our home for the night in Sioux Falls.  BL
Friday:  Sioux Falls to Home
Day 7: June 17:  The fun still isn’t over yet!   We are going to stop in Des Moines, IA and enjoy lunch at the Iowa Machine Shed.  Time will pass quickly today with conversations, games and napping as we travel home with fond memories of the beautiful “Black Hills of South Dakota and Deadwood”.  BL
