A stop in Kilgore, TX at the East Texas Oil Museum will be interesting and educational as we see how the oil was drilled and how the families lived in the early 1900’s. It will be a walk back into history as we tour what the streets of the town, and what it looked like during the oil boom. Sit back and relax for a short ride to the outskirts of Houston and our destination, the Hampton Inn in Humble, Texas, which will be our home for the next two nights. BD

We will also visit the one of Houston’s resident artist’s studio, David Adickes. He does the Presidential busts that are in several parks around the United States. A stop at the Heritage Society Museum in Sam Houston Park will be a great way to stretch our legs and minds. A visit to the “Galleria” Mall, that has an indoor Ice Skating Rink , will be the end of our tour but we will stay and enjoy their food court and a Texas sized shopping Mall before heading back to our hotel for the night BL

Sunday: April 7 Day 4: After breakfast at our hotel we will board the bus and head off to the Port of Houston for a 90 minute boat tour of the Houston Channel. Learn how they move the big ships in and out of the channel plus see all the activities of a working port. The tour is a narrated tour identifying port infrastructure, vessels on the channel and historic sites. But “Houston, we’ve got a Problem”, won’t be what we’re saying today as we enjoy touring the “Missions Control Center” at the Houston Space Center. It’s a “hands on” experience of space exploration, an IMAX theatre and a tram tour offering behind the scenes tours. When we are done with our Tram tour and visit at the Space Center we will depart for a short ride to Galveston where we will spend the next 2 nights. The drive from Houston to Galveston is lined with oil refineries, making it one of the largest shipping points for oil. We will check into the The Hilton Galveston Island Resort (at The San Luis Resort), it is conveniently located on a 30-acre year-round beachfront resort overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and its sunny beaches, followed by dinner at one of their many restaurants. The resort offers dining options sure to please everyone from The Palm Court, offering Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner favorites, Rainforest Cafe, the Steakhouse at The San Luis Resort, International House of Pancakes, open 24-hours, Landry's Seafood House and more. There are a total of 9 restaurants on property!!! BD

One of our three (3) afternoon adventures will be the Rainforest Pyramid, a 10 story Pyramid, a tribute to the world’s rapidly vanishing rainforest. You will see 1,000 of exotic plants and mammals from all over the world along with enjoy a new Rainforest Canopy Walkway that provides a unique perspective of life at the tree-top level of the Rainforest. Another treat will be the Aquarium with over 130,000 square feet of building space and 1.5 million gallons of water. The habitat includes special viewing tanks for offerings from the ocean waters of the South Atlantic, North Pacific and the tropical Pacific and the Caribbean. We will also see one of their great IMAX Movies. We will arrive back at our Resort early enough for you to enjoy the evening exploring or walk across the road to sit by the Gulf of Mexico!! B
