Itinerary:
 

Day 1
June 22, Saturday:
Jump aboard as we begin our trip to South Dakota’s Black Hills. We will travel on our deluxe motorcoach across Illinois and Iowa, staying in Sioux Falls at the Best Western Empire hotel that is located right next to the mall, for our first night lodging. CB

 

Day 2
June 23, Sunday:
Breakfast will be in our hotel as we head west with a our first stop in the Badlands National Park. Badlands National Park, located in southwest South Dakota, preserves 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires blended with the largest protected mixed grass prairie in the US. Picture stops and the Visitors Center will offer you many different looks at this amazing park. The next amazing site is a man made 76,000 square foot American Experience includes the Backyard with its Branding Iron Arcade, animated T-Rex, panning & mining experience for fossils and gemstones, Train Station Water Show & fun picture-taking props in a picnic area. Gourmet coffee shop! Pizza Parlor! Ice Cream Shop! And a restaurant that makes home made donuts.. and it’s all at the Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD A short ride into Rapid City, SD and the Comfort Inn and Suites that will be our home for the next 2 nights. Day 3
June 24, Monday:
We will check in at Fort Hays “Dance with the Wolves” Film set for our “All you can Eat Cowboy” breakfast of pancakes, biscuits and gravy and sausage will be waiting at the chuck wagon before boarding our coach. Sit back and relax as our guide narrates the tour of Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Memorial. We will travel the Peter Norbeck National Scenic Byway as it takes us over Iron Mountain through scenic tunnels and pigtail bridges. Be sure to bring plenty of film for this Kodak moment!! Lunch will be at the presidential summer white house to former Calvin Coolidge. Following a full day of touring we will return to the Fort Hays Dances with the Wolves Film Set for our Chuck wagon Supper and Cowboy Music Show. When the Supper Bell rings the Cowboys and Cowgirls will serve up Chuck wagon Potatoes, sliced Roast Beef simmered in mild BBQ Sauce, western Baked Beans, Biscuits & Honey, Applesauce, Old Fashion Spice cake and drinks!! The Fort Hays Wranglers will take the stage to entertain you with the Black Hills most popular western music variety show! Over an hour of comedy and toe tappin` music…so be sure to bring your camera!! BD

 
Day 4
June 25: Tuesday:
Following Breakfast in our hotel we will take a trip to the Mt Rushmore Black Hills Gold Factory, which will be educational along with entertaining. We will take a fascinating tour through their jewelry factory to watch up close and learn the details of how gold jewelry is made. See the ancient process of lost wax casting and how diamonds are cast in gold. Hear the legend of how the Black Hills Gold was inspired. We are going to travel back into the old west to Cody, WY and stay in rustic Log Cabins, which have all the comforts of home, at the Buffalo Bill Village. This evening will be Dinner at the Cody Cattle Company, with entertainment while we eat, followed by a true old west Rodeo!!! BD
 
Day 5
June 26: Wednesday:
We will depart Cody right after breakfast and head to Yellowstone National Park where we will pick up our step on guide that will offer a private tour just for us. Our well-informed guide will give us a fascinating look at the scenery, wildlife, geology, biology and history of this beautiful national park. We will see things like the beautiful Lewis River Canyon and Falls area, watch Old Faithful geyser erupt and enjoy lunch on your own or at a restaurant. You'll walk the scenic boardwalks of the Fountain Paint Pots in the breaktaking Firehole River area. Next stop will be the magnificent Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River where you'll view one of the tallest waterfalls in the U.S. We'll see the wonderful wildlife of Hayden Valley and last stop on the loop is the beautiful Yellowstone Lake and Lake Hotel. Day 6
June 27, Thursday:
Enjoy a relaxing almost free day in Jackson Hole!!! We will enjoy breakfast and for those that would like to go visit the Ski Slopes and ride the Tram to the top, hop on the bus and we will enjoy a scenic ride to the Tram. Upon entering downtown Jackson, one is immediately attracted to Town Square and its many unique shops. Located across from the famed Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, featured in a handful of Hollywood western movies is the distinctive arches, made from hundreds of elk antlers. Jackson’s Town Square is the picturesque centerpiece of the heart of Jackson – everything from a meeting place to shopping destination to relaxation spot. After we return to town, you are free to enjoy your time anyway you would like from shopping to exploring new restaurants. B
 
Day 7
June 28, Friday:
This will be a travel day as we journey to Sidney, NE. Cabela's corporate headquarters and home store is also located here and we will offer a ride over to visit it. Our hotel tonight will be the Hampton Inn. B
 
Day 8
June 29, Saturday:
A ride across Nebraska will go fast and we will soon be at the Great Platte River Road Arch. This Arch stretches from one side of I-80 to the other and the history of the Great Platte River Road comes alive as you walk thru this 2 story exhibit. Lunch will be served in the dining room as we enjoy a BBQ dinner from Dickey’s BBQ. The end of the afternoon will brings us to Omaha, NE where we will spend the night at the Double Tree Hotel. BL
 
Day 9
June 30: Sunday:
The fun isn’t over yet! We are going to stop in Des Moines, IA and enjoy lunch at the Iowa Machine Shed. Time will pass quickly today with conversations, games and napping as we travel home with fond memories of the beautiful “Black Hills of South Dakota and Yellowstone National Park”. BL
